M.G.M, in 1942, gave us The Wolf as a figure of Hitler-as to be
expected-violent, arrogant-weak, treacherous and hypocritical. The Wolf
is in this anti-Nazi parody-being the utter villain of the universe
using the story of Three Small Pigs as the vehicle. 
The Wolf has also been Droopy's arch-villian to fend off, the nemesis Droopy faced in his beginning years. If you remember, the introduction of the Wolf was in Dumb Hounded in 1943. The Wolf is a killer and convict, who then escapes prison, thinking he's one easy street, where there is always a fly-in-ointment, wherever the Wolf goes, he sees Droopy and it drives him to be paranoid. Needless to say he gets captured and Droopy get a pile of reward money.
Also , in the Tom and Jerry Comedy Show, i.e. cartoon we again see The Wolf and his antics, there The Wolf is called Slick Wolf and also appears in Tom and Jerry's Kids and there is bestowed the name of Slick McWolf.
Now, The Wolfs most Famous role, the setting unique, as a take-off on Little Red Riding Hood, where we have Little Red Riding Hood, Grandma and the Wolf, all just fed up with the way that the story never changes. Hence the narrator, grudgingly complies and you end up with an urban setting. You now have Grandma in a penthouse, Little Red Riding Hood transforms into a stunning singer and dancer at a snazzy nightclub. The Wolf now is a sharp dressing womanizer on his way to that nightclub. The Wolf get to the club and watches Red sing and dance and falls madly in love with her and lusts for her and he howls and whistles at Red.
(Red Hot Riding Hood is her stage name) Trying to be slick

The Wolf brings her to his table and tries his best to woo her with his charms to no avail.

Red wants nothing to do with him (red call him "Wolfie") and makes a mad dash escape saying she's going to Grandma's house.
Only in cartoon can The Wolf hear her and beat her to her Grandmas house, but the joke is on him, Grandma is an man-chaser with a libido in full throddle who completely falls utterly heads over hells in love and lust for The Wolf and when she see's him she says "At last a wolf" with a long whistle at add effect.
The Wolf does his best to try and get away, yet Grandma blocks The Wolf's every avenue of escape.and says "What's your hurry, hairy?" She the locks down the door and drops the key down the front of her evening gown and gives him a most provocative stance

Grandma is then shown putting of a flaming shade of red lipstick and goes after the Wolf , trying to kiss him and The Wolf makes haste and tries to get out other door, but to his dismay, every door he opens, there's Grandma waiting for him with puckered blazing red lips
. The Wolf makes the great escape by jumping out of the window and just busting himself all up, but remember this is cartoon land and The Wolf instantly does a cool recovery, with some serious bruises and bandage have lumbers back the Nightclub. The Wolf then expounds "I'm fed up! I'm through with women!, Why i'd kill myself before i'd even look at another babe" Red then takes to the stage and starts her show, and low and behold the wolf pulls out two guns and commits sucide, nonetheless his ghost slowly rises from his corpse and starts to howl and whistle as he had done so earlier in red's performance.
Ah yes, censorship....
One scene was when Red is performing, Wolfie as she calls him and the Wolf reacts in really ribald lusty wild and energetic takes and the censors found it horrid and said that The Wolf was getting sexually aroused, hence to the cutting room floor.
Now the original conclusion had the Grandma marrying The Wolf at a shot gun wedding (Red is there, as he says "i do" with some type of anti-aircraft gun pointed at his back. when the wolf originally jumps off the balcony, he crawls back and says he's about to commit suicide. The chase ensues adding in Red with Grandma, The Wolf gets all tied up and grandma tells Red to go fetch a preacher (the preacher a caricature of Tex Avery) Grandma kisses the wolf and the married bliss. The married couple, Grandma and The Wolf later go back to the club to see Red perform, three little wolves goes crazy over red just like dad did.
The cutting room floor again , as the censors saw implied bestiality and made a mockery of marriage.
There were various follow ups to the film and some of them included Droopy and The Wolf and Red as another character and variations of herself.
Other variations of the wolf appeared in different animated shorts but the above is the most well-know..
