SCREWBALL "SCREWY" SQUIRREL WAS A TREX AVERY CREATION FROM MGM CARTOON IN 1944 ON APRIL FOOLS DAY, OF COURSE!



THE IRONY WAS MGM WANTED BUGS AND DAFFY'S SUCESS REPEATED, BUT ALTHOUGH SHORT-LIVED IN 5 CARTOONS-SCREWBALL SQUIRREL IS STILL RECOGNIZABLE AS ONE OF THE MORE ZANY CHARACTERS AND HAS MADE APPEARANCES SINCE THE 1990, NEALY 50 YEARS SINCE HIS DEMISE.

NOW, HE WAS FUNNY TO A FAULT, MANY CONSIDERED  A PAIN AT TIMES, ANTAGONISTIC WITH FEW REDEEMING QUALITIES THAT CAME WITH BUGS BUNNY OR EVEN DAFFY DUCK. HE TRULY WAS IN CARTOON LAND WHERE YOU HAD TO LEAVE ANY SENSE OF REALITY BEHIND. TRULY AN ESCAPE AND SO FAR OFF THE ANTI-HERO PATH OF BUGS OR DAFFY!

 HE COULD CREATE OBJECTS STRAIGHT OUT OF THIN AIR ON A WHIN OR IMAGINED SCREWBALL NEED. WITH SCREWY'S CRAZY INSANE  LAUGH HE BREAKS INTO ANOTHER DIMENSION AS IF NORMAL OR ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE ARE TWO OF HIM.

SCREWY VEXED A DOG (MEATHEAD DOG) IN SEVERAL OF HIS SHORT LIVED LIFE IN ONLY 5 CARTOONS. SCREWBALL SQUIRREL MET HIS END IN "LONESOME LENNY", BUT HIS INSANITY LIVES ON TODAY FROM HIS INSANE ANTICS AND PERSONALITY!



HIS CLASSIC SCENE WAS WHEN HE HAD A TRUNK LABELED-ASSORTED SWELL STUFF TO HIT DOG ON HEAD WITH-THE DOG SAYS HEY THERE'S NO KITCHEN SINK, WHERE SCREWY FINDS THE KITHEN SINK AND BASHES HIM.

AND ALL OF THE CATS FROM THE ALLEY. OFFICER DIBBLE WAS MAINLY AFTER THE LITTLE CABAL OF CAT HUSTLERS FOR THEIR RUNNING GET RICH SCHEMES OF DUBIOUS CHARACTER,

OR AS PHIL SILVERS WOULD SAY "MAKE A QUICK BUCK"


AS AN ASIDE, TOP CAT WAS CHANGED TO BOSS CAT IN ENGLAND BECAUSE OF A CAT FOOD NAMED TOP CAT!



FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO LOOK AT TOP CAT AS A SOCIAL COMMENTARY, YOU HAVE THE POOR CATS TRYING TO BETTER THEMSELVES AND AS  THE POLICE ARE THERE TO KEEP THE PEOPLE SEQUESTERED IN BOTH THEIR PHYSICAL AND ECONOMIC CONDITION

The girl appears for the first time in the cartoon Red Hot Ridding Hood and has already the majority of its erotic attributes. The dance during which she strips her red cape while singing " Daddy " and waxing a nostalgic song still with that simmering sexuality- not only for medium but for that era it has been censured at the beginning.


Tex Avery hails from Texas as one would assume and even though his cartoons did depict the money hoarding of most villains and how the heroes are nearly always poor at odds fighting the villains and his patriotism was as evidenced by his cartoons to have satire immersed in every cartoon with that theme.
Being born and brought up in Texas in the era of segregation, sexism as opposed to suffrage and always had the idea that a womens place is in the home.and the ever growing Klan it gives a background into how he portrayed his more famous THE GIRL-(the Film Mask with Jim Carrey was based off The Wolf where the girl was introduced and eventually used in other cartoons.
The Wolf is at a club where the girl is showcased slowly removing a red cape on stage and the wolf is drinking and starts to watch her act on stage and hence the wolf-whistle and the howling wolf call,
